Create a Merit Aktiva API key, paste it into sild, and your shop is connected. You make the key in Merit Aktiva yourself.
Create the API key in Merit Aktiva
- Log in to Merit Aktiva as a user who can change company settings.
- Open Settings → Company data → API settings (in Estonian: Seadistused → Ettevõtte andmed → API seadistus).
- Click Create new key (Koosta uus võti). You'll see the API ID and the API key.
- Copy both. Keep the key secret: anyone who has it can write into your books.
The API only works on the Merit Aktiva Pro or Premium package.
Connect the shop
- In WordPress, open sild · Merit Aktiva. The setup wizard opens at the Merit Aktiva · API keys step.
- Fill in the form:
- Your email: for your sild account, sync alerts and billing.
- Merit Aktiva country: usually Estonia (aktiva.merit.ee). Finland and Poland (360 Księgowość) are in beta.
- API ID and API key: the ones you just copied.
- Company registry code: exactly as it is in Merit Aktiva.
- Click Connect to Merit Aktiva.
sild checks the key straight away. If all is well, you'll see "Connected. Your store starts in preview mode: nothing is written to Merit Aktiva." and the wizard moves on to VAT rates.
Done! The shop is connected, and nothing is written until you say so.
Only a site administrator can connect the shop.
What happens to the key
The key goes once over HTTPS to the sild service and is never saved in WordPress. The service keeps it encrypted. Data stays in the EU, under the GDPR.
If connecting fails
- "Merit Aktiva didn't accept the API ID and key": copy both again and check that the Merit Aktiva country is right.
- "Merit Aktiva refused API access: your Merit Aktiva licence doesn't include the API": you need the Pro or Premium package. Change the package, then connect again.
- Still stuck? Click Diagnostics next to the form, copy the report and send it to [email protected].
Later: change the key or test the connection
Everything about the connection is in Settings → Connection:
- Test connection checks that Merit Aktiva accepts the key.
- Update API keys replaces the key. Connecting the same company again keeps your history.
- Disconnect stops syncing. Nothing is deleted in Merit Aktiva or in sild.
Several shops writing to one Merit Aktiva company? Connect each one with the same registry code and give each its own invoice number prefix (see mappings).
